About the film

Love, betrayal, heartache, and discovering unknown parts of yourself.

Ocean & Me is a 2023 short film written, directed, and edited by Beah Corrales. The story follows Juliette, who seems to be in the perfect long-term relationship until meeting Kali, someone who awakens feelings and possibilities she has never fully confronted before.

As Juliette grows closer to Kali, what first feels like confusion becomes something much deeper. Her once certain future begins to feel uncertain, and her relationship no longer feels as fulfilling as it once did. The film explores the tension between friendship, desire, identity, and the fear that comes with realizing your life may need to change.

At its core, the film is about questioning what love is supposed to look like, what it actually feels like, and how painful it can be to discover something true about yourself when it disrupts everything you thought you wanted.

Ocean & Me was led by writer, director, director of photography, and editor Beah Corrales, whose vision centered on love, betrayal, heartache, and the uncertainty of discovering unknown parts of yourself. The film balances intimacy and tension as Juliette’s world shifts around her.

My contribution included background acting within the world of the story and supporting the sound mix during production. Both roles contribute to the feeling of realism that helps the audience stay connected to the characters and their emotional arc.

The finished short film blends relationship drama with self-discovery, creating a story that feels personal, vulnerable, and reflective.
