Strange terrors lurk in nature, taking on different shapes and forms.

Deadringer was an award-winning project I had the joy of being part of as the art director. Inspired by the skin-walkers of Navajo culture, Deadringer explores the way shapeshifting can target past traumas and deceive individuals and groups.

This film was very art- and costume-heavy, with props such as a severed deer head and child body double, as well as the skin-walker costume, created from scratch by hand.

Creating art is all about experimentation and exploration.

It was an insightful experience to work alongside production designer Hannah Madura and be part of the creative art development for this project. Watching and engaging in the development of costumes and props showed me how much physical art depends on experimentation, trying new strategies, and testing what actually works.

Something that looks amazing in real life might not look great on camera, and vice versa. Art-heavy productions require a wide range of materials, planning, and iteration. After development and pre-production, managing the art on set was crucial to bringing the project's vision to fruition and helping the production run smoothly.
